Roof Lanterns

A roof lantern is an integral part of an orangery although, roof lanterns can also be installed onto conservatories and flat roof extensions, allowing natural light to pour inside the building. A roof lantern’s raised design creates a feeling of light and space in a building’s interior.

Roof lanterns in Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire

At Techniglaze, we install roof lanterns from respected manufacturers BWM and Ultraframe. Both suppliers produce high-quality products which will improve your conservatory, orangery, or extension. We also use high-quality Smarts Alitherm and Aliver products. Every roof lantern we install has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it is watertight and thermally efficient. A roof lantern from Techniglaze will enhance a building’s aesthetic and greatly improve performance. Our roof lanterns are built to last. By using the best materials, we can guarantee a superior product, professionally installed, every time.

Thermally efficient glass

Like with our windows, the glass of our roof lanterns achieves astoundingly low U-values. These measure the rate of thermal transmittance through a material. The lower the U-value, the less heat escapes your home, and the lower your energy bills will be. With this top-of-the-range glazing technology and thermal efficiency, a roof lantern from Techniglaze will keep your conservatory or orangery at the optimum temperature all year round.

What is the difference between a skylight and a roof lantern?

Roof lanterns are typically installed within a flat roof and protrude from the roof, while a skylight tends to sit seamlessly within a pitched roof. Roof lanterns are a much grander piece of architecture, brilliant for orangeries and single storey extensions.

    Colours

Techniglaze roof lanterns can be finished in a selection of durable woodgrain foils. Choose popular White or Anthracite Grey for a modern and understated aesthetic. For a more traditional look, opt for a realistic timber inspired finish. If you want a different look on the interior and exterior of your roof lantern, we offer dual coloured frames for the best in customisation. A full list of our colour options for all of our products can be found within our technical documentation. Colour tone shown may differ to actual finished product, please request a swatch if you require an accurate representation.

    Glazing

Techniglaze roof lanterns are glazed with high performance glass from either Pilkington, Guardian, or Saint Gobain. Each of these companies supply a wide range of glazing options including energy efficient glass, self-cleaning glass, anti-condensation glass, and textured and obscure glass. All our glazing meets stringent Building Regulations requirements for security, safety, and energy efficiency. The wide range of glazing options gives you the choice of a more transparent flat glass, which will allow a large amount of light to flood into your living space beautifully. However, if you’re after a more private glass tint, there are textured glass designs for you.

Are roof lanterns a good idea?

A roof lantern installation is an excellent option for those looking to maximise natural daylight in their home, creating a beautiful bright space. Unlike flat rooflights, they can capture light from all directions, creating a beautiful architectural feature that can make a room feel more spacious. Additionally, they can serve as a striking focal point in any room. At Techniglaze, we install roof lanterns in a wide range of sizes, so we’re confident that we have the perfect fit for you.

Is a flat roof with a lantern cheaper than a pitched roof?

The popularity of flat roof extensions can be attributed to their affordability compared to pitched roof extensions. For home owners who are on a tight budget, a flat rooflight extension would be the best option as it requires fewer materials, less labour, and less time, resulting in lower costs.

We are delighted with the windows, and have already been complimented by our neighbours on the upgrade.

Tyler and Paul were very professional and showed good initiative for the inevitable adjustments that needed to be made. They were particularly considerate of our house, it’s character and our pets! Please pass on our thanks and comments as appropriate.

We are delighted with the windows. As you know we were concerned that they would look different and more “clunky” but really you can’t tell the difference except that the new ones are not falling apart!!! The guys who did the fitting were also good. They were working in freezing fog, really cold but they carried on regardless, they were extremely tidy and cleared up after themselves.

I am delighted with the recent installation, it’s good to look out of clear windows. The work was carried out professionally by two excellent gentleman.
I will not hesitate to contact you when I am ready to replace others, also would certainly recommend you to others.

Excellent customer service, range of products and attention to detail. I honestly can’t rate them highly enough. They stepped in and came to the rescue after Salisbury glass cost us 8 months of time and 100k in increased material costs.

These guys have been great to us. Helped us out at short notice after we were badly let down by another supplier. We asked for several minor details that were not standard (e.g. different locking mechanisms), and they were flexible and open to ideas. We ended up also commissioning our front door from them; it is super sturdy and beautiful. Always courteous, professional, and good payment terms.

I was looking for a company that could deliver a bespoke pair of roof lights in the Alitherm system. Techniglaze offered the best price and worked with us to ensure the sizes were exactly right and conducted the sales process very professionally. The product is first class and we are exceptionally pleased with the service and product. I can highly recommend Techniglaze.
