For this commercial refurbishment project, the Techniglaze team travelled to Chippenham in Wiltshire. The project involved replacing a large quantity of Heritage aluminium windows and installing several sections of curtain wall screens. Working directly for the project’s main contractor, it was essential that the project was completed on schedule to ensure that there were no delays to the rest of the renovation.
The Smart Heritage aluminium windows used in the project were specified with a classic white finish. The ground floor windows featured a single vertical astragal bar and a single horizontal astragal bar. In keeping with the period aesthetic, the first-floor windows incorporated an extra horizontal astragal bar into the design to create a six-pane effect appearance.
Smart Heritage aluminium windows are a popular choice for period property renovations and are often used in conservation areas and in listed building upgrades. They are a high performing window system, providing outstanding levels of thermal insulation alongside their classic aesthetic.
The project also involved installing several sections of curtain walling. Working within a confined space, the Techniglaze installation team used our very own Techniglaze telehandler and a glazing manipulator to safely lift and secure the large sections of curtain walling into place. Thanks to the experience of the Techniglaze team, they were able to successfully and safely secure all the glazing in place despite the site restrictions.
Smart MC Wall curtain walling was selected for the project to complement the Heritage windows and because of its outstanding performance capacity and impressive appearance. The curtain walling has helped to modernise the property without affecting the heritage aesthetic.
The refurbishment project was a complete success, meeting all the criteria demanded when working on a heritage building renovation.
